504 China’s business delegates confirm to attend EEC in Thailand

Thailand to welcome China’s business delegates to EEC to strengthen economic ties

Thailand is ready to host HE Mr Wang Yong, a member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and more than 500 senior executives and business people from China for the 6th meeting of the Thailand-China Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation and their visit to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) on the 24th and 25th of August 2018. The aim of this visit is to explore potential investment cooperation in the innovation, technology and digital industries as a part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Uttama Savanayana, Minister of Industry, said: “During the 24th and 25th of August, the group of state officials and businesspeople from China, led by State Councillor Mr Wang Yong, will make an official visit to Thailand. On the 24th of August, the group will be participating in the 6th meeting of the Thailand-China Joint Committee on Trade Investment and Economic Cooperation and a seminar entitled ‘Thailand–China Business Forum 2018: Strategic Partnership through the Belt and Road Initiative and the EEC’. Businesspeople from the People’s Republic of China will also be able to participate in a business matching event in order to build a network with Thai businesses. And on 25th of August, Mr Wang Yong will lead Chinese senior executives and business groups on a visit to the Eastern Economic Corridor, during which there will be signings of several memoranda of understanding between the public and private sectors of both countries in order to join forces for investment in innovation, technology and digital industries.”

Kanit Sangsubhan, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO), added that the visiting Chinese business delegates consist of company presidents, high-ranking executives and representatives from large business groups that are interested to and potentially will invest in space technology, infrastructure, and the EEC’s 10 targeted industries, as well as in research institutes. During this visit the delegates will get a clearer picture of Thailand’s potential and readiness to host these industries, especially in the digital industry, robotics, aviation and logistics, next-generation automotive, comprehensive healthcare, and biochemical industries. Greater economic collaboration between the two countries will be enhanced into the future.
